The tiny gnome-like Elfkins have lived in hiding, under the German city of Cologne, for more than 200 years. One day, after being dismissed by her fellow Elfkins one time too many for her inventions, the young Elfkin girl Helvi decides it’s time to try and return to the human world on the surface. Along with two slightly reluctant Elkfin boys, Helvi gets tangled up in the affairs of disgruntled pastry chef Theo, who is about to lose his cake shop to his scheming brother. Remembering that once upon a time Elkins used to help humans, Helvi and her friends decide to learn how to bake so they can save Theo’s business.
Inspired by tales from German folklore, this is a fun and high-spirited story about reconciliation, looking beyond old prejudices and being the best person (or Elfkin!) you can be.
Parental guidance: very mild slapstick violence, mild sense of threat in some scenes.
